Attention Once Upon a Time Fans: The show is going LGTB!
The ABC television show’s producers, Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis, promised viewers that they would finally explore an LGBT relationship on the show’s next season.
After the upcoming season’s premiere viewing on Friday, Entertainment Weekly asked the producers about the relationship between Mulan (Jamie Chung) and Aurora (Sarah Bolger) possibly developing deeper.
“We knew that community have been big supporters of the show and we would love to be able to tell a love story that reflects that,” Kitnis told Entertainment Weekly.
“We want the show to reflect the world as it is now,” Horowitz added. “Whether that’s going to be with any particular character, we’re not going to say.”
Kitsis chimed in: “But it is something that we’re going to do this year.”
“It’s something we want to do this year,” Horowitz said. “It’s something we think is due and important to do on the show. This is the world we live in.”
The answer given, though it guarantees a definitive LGBT relationship, it doesn’t confirm one specifically between Mulan and Aurora. The producers still kept it hush hush on the specifics. It could happen between any of the characters from Camelot, or anyone from the whole series. Possibilities are endless…
Mulan is set to continue to appear in multiple episodes in the upcoming season, as Horowitz confirmed on Twitter. Regardless of who the couple ends up being, this will be the show’s first LGBT relationship.
