When you’re on a plane, you usually have one of three jobs – passenger, server, or the people flying the plane. On this flight, the pilots forgot their job just a little. These two Austral Airlines pilots just lost their jobs for allowing a Playboy model into the cockpit to take selfies with them. The model, Vicki Xipolitakis, posted the incriminating pictures to Twitter on June 24.
Apparently, at one point during the flight, Xipolitakis was permitted to “increase the throttle” at takeoff time. When they took selfies with her, the pilots turned their backs to the controls… literally. The whole flight was in danger, and they didn’t even know about it.
“You don’t want your taxi driver texting while you’re driving,” remarked ABC News consultant Steve Ganyard. “So you don’t want your airline pilot taking selfies while airborne.”
Argentinian Airlines, who own Austral, fired the pilot after discovering the model’s Twitter photos. At this point, the three people involve face criminal charges because they endangered the passengers’ lives.
