Rob Kardashian shared nude photos and videos of ex-fiancée Blac Chyna without her permission, blowing up social media Wednesday in a rant that alleges she cheated on him.
The images were sent privately to Kardashian while the two were still together. Kardashian’s rant included the statement: “I don’t care that this is the mother of my child,” while also alleging that she is using drugs and alcohol and that someone she is currently dating has contacted him asking for money. He alleges that he’s been paying her rent, for her cars and even for weight loss surgery after the birth of that child, Dream who is only 34 weeks old.
Chyna initially responded on SnapChat, telling Kardashian to “fall back” and then posting a video of her jewelry with the caption “lol.”
Now, however, she may be responding with legal action, according to her lawyer. Walter Mosley told E! News “We are taking this assault against Chyna very seriously and exploring all of the legal remedies available to my client at this time.”
Kardashian’s more famous family members have released no official statements, a source told People that they are “deeply disappointed and frustrated with Rob,” adding that “he’s made a difficult situation even worse.”
Chyna’s relationship with the Kardashian clan is just as convoluted and drama-filled as the family itself. In April she attempted to legally assume the name “Angela Renee Kardashian,” requesting an official trademark, but was denied that right in court. The play for the name she never actually took, as she and Rob split while still engaged, was stated to be an effort to share her last name with her daughter. The claim took place while she and Rob were still engaged, so it was also made on the grounds that it would presumably be her future married name.
The lawyers representing the Kardashian sisters countered the claim by stating that the sisters would “suffer damage including irreparable injury to their reputation and goodwill” if the trademark were granted and accused Chyna of “deliberately seeking to profit from the goodwill and popularity” of the Kardashian brand.
The trademark was denied in April.
Chyna’s involvement with the Kardashian also includes her previous relationship with Tyga who she was engaged to and has a 4-year-old son with; Tyga dated Kylie Jenner, the Kardashian’s little sister and the daughter of Kris and Caitlyn Jenner, for three years. (That relationship also sparked scandal because Tyga was 34 and Kylie only 19 at the time).
Instagram responded to Rob Kardashian’s explicative-laced, revenge porn by removing Kardashian’s account altogether. That did little to deter him, however, as he continued hthe tantrum on Twitter, claiming she cheated on him and left him as soon as Dream was born.
One response from Chyna that has since been removed from SnapChat alleged that Kardashian had hit her while they were together.
Revenge porn has become all-too popular with the expansion of the internet and entire sites launching to not only post non-consensual videos or photos of exes, but also as a means for harassing women who offend the revenge-seeker online or in some other way.
The website withoutmyconsent.org provides advice and counseling for when such acts occur. Depending on the state, intention, desires of the victim and so forth, some legal options include claiming invasion of privacy, copyright infringement, harassment, emotional distress, and restraining orders.
The site also draws a connection between nonconsensual porn and domestic violence: “Nonconsensual porn is one way that abusers terrorize victims. According to the National Network to End Domestic Violence, 55% of programs reported that the survivors they work with have had abusers post sexually explicit images of them online without consent.” This coincides with Chyna’s allegations of abuse; regardless, she may have legal standing if she chooses to act upon it. This also does not bode well for Kardashian’s custody of the couple’s child, Dream.
The site also reports that 1 out of 25 Americans has been the victim of nonconsensual porn and that 52 % of victims report suicidal thoughts after their exploitation.
