It’s confirmed. Actress Rosie Perez and Republican media pundit Nicolle Wallace are joining Whoopi Goldberg and Rosie O’Donnell on the panel for The View.
As most of us already know, Perez is a renown actress and choreographer who has appeared in movies such as Do The Right Thing and Fearless. Although Perez is loved by many, some fans believe she is not “fit” to be a part of the round table. Simply because of her voice. Many fans have expressed their disappointment on social media, and stated that nobody wants to hear her “distinct” voice for a hour.
I think hiring Perez was a very smart move for The View. It will expand the audience demographic by pulling in more Latino viewers, which will increase the ratings. Also, Perez is very likeable regardless of what she sounds like, and has a down-to-earth personality. I believe that she will bring a different and much needed sass, honesty, and high energy to the show.
Perez expressed her gratitude for the opportunity: “I am beyond thrilled, honored and completely surprised that I’ve been asked to join The View. Knowing that I’ll be in the company of Whoopi, Rosie and Nicolle, three very smart and engaging women that I have an immense amount of respect for, makes it even more unbelievable. The opportunity to connect with our nation’s audience on a daily basis… icing on the cake! Very happy.”
Wallace, a political analyst for MSNBC, was communications chief for President George W. Bush’s reelection campaign and was an adviser on John McCain’s 2008 campaign. According to social media polls and blogs, fans are unsure of how they feel about the addition of Wallace to the panel. Mostly because none of us have witnessed her discuss entertainment media, TV shows, actors/actresses, fashion; all of which are frequently discussed on The View. Let’s be honest, politics and daytime talk shows aren’t the same, however I believe many will tune in to see how well (or badly) she does.
Wallace stated: “I am honored to join the tradition of compelling conversations that has been the signature of The View for the better part of two decades. I have watched The View for many years and now to be seated alongside three women that I have admired is both humbling and incredibly exciting.”
The show will return Monday, September 15 on ABC. Get ready to see a new studio, set, logo and crew, led by new executive producer Bill Wollf.
