Sex and the City fans get ready. Sarah Jessica Parker is returning to the small screen. Ok…before you get too excited, her new television series is not what you think. There will be no Manolo Blahniks or steamy sex scenes with hot men. This time, SJP is taking a different approach. She will be playing a news reporter in the new show, Busted.
The hour-long series is based on the nonfiction book, “Busted: A Tale Of Corruption And Betrayal In The City Of Brotherly Love.” It tells the story of two real life women, Wendy Ruderman and Barbara Laker, who try to uncover corruption within the Philadelphia Police Department. Parker is in talks to play one of the women.
Sidney Kimmel Entertainment and Anonymous Content, who also produces HBO’s True Detective, will be producing the crime drama. David Frankel, the director of The Devil Wears Prada, is attached to direct.
A statement was released by the president of Sidney Kimmel Entertainment, saying:
“Wendy and Barbara have written an amazing true story, and we’re thrilled for it to be SKE’s first television project. Sarah Jessica’s coming on board, along with David Frankel and Don Roos [the writer]. It’s simply a perfect combination that we couldn’t be happier about.”
Who do you think should play SJP’s partner in the series?
