Looks like ‘Spice’ can’t handle the heat after all.
Sean Spicer, who is the White House Press Secretary has resigned on Friday after only half of the first year of Donald Trump’s presidency.
“It’s been an honor & a privilege to serve @POTUS @realDonaldTrump & this amazing country. I will continue my service through August,” he tweeted.
The news comes after White House officials said that Anthony Scaramucci was going to be hired as White House communications director. Sources say that Spicer was not happy with the president’s decision, and said he would resign if Scaramucci was hired.
Spicer felt that Scaramucci was not up to the standard for the job.
Melissa McCarthy, who is a well known actor and comedian, often spoofed Spicer on ‘Saturday Night Live’.
Back in 2015, Scaramucci, a Fox News Channel contributor, spoke about Trump on the network in a negative way.
He called Trump “another hack politician” and criticized his “crazy rhetoric spinning everybody’s head around”.
Spicer certainly had a rocky start in his role at the White House.
Remember when he claimed that Trump’s inauguration crowd was ‘the biggest in history’?
And it, ahem, was a disaster.
According to NBC News, after James Comey’s firing, Trump began talking to others close to him asking if Sarah Huckabee Sanders did a better job handling press briefings over Spicer.
Poor Spicey..Sanders has taken your place rather fast.
