September 23, 2015 was the night many of us have been waiting for..Empire’s season 2 premiere!
Empire began with a Black Lives Matter rally in support of incarcerated Empire Records patriarch Lucious Lyon, played by Terrence Howard. The rally was staged by the Lyons who are all aware that he is guilty for murdering Bunkie.
The Lyons always seem to have something up their sleeves. It is clear that nobody is a saint on the show BUT we cannot get enough of either one of them!
The middle son Jamal, played by Jussie Smollet, is no longer the last “angel” standing. Being Empire’s new CEO proves that Jamal truly is Lucious’s child.
Balancing business and personal seems to not be going that great Jamal.
Remember when we were all rooting for Jamal and not any of his brothers to take over Empire?
Welp. That was definitely a fail.
Talk about regrets! We should be scared now even after Cookie, played by Taraji P. Henson, smacks him on his face not once but twice for being disrespectful! He did not even flinch!
There’s a new member to Empire, Marisa Tomei. Another reason to worry. The lesbian who pretends to be attracted to Anika, played by Grace Gealey and gets a chance with Anika in bed. Is that much of a surprise though? Anika was engaged to Lucious then had an affair with his son, Hakeem, played by Bryshere Gray, last season.
Another surprise we saw from Wednesday night, oh..Anika aka “Boo Boo Kitty” can twerk!
Oh and there’s something else we did not see coming! Someone is threatening the Lyon’s family and Cookie seeks Lucious for help while in jail.
Lucious Lyon still manages to take control of every situation even the ones who think they can take over prison such as Frank Gathers, played by Chris Rock.
This looks like a great season! The first episode really was a shocker.
Stay tuned every Wednesday on FOX at 9p.m.
