Michael Jace, the actor known for playing the role of a police officer in FX’s “Shield,” has been sentenced for 40 years to life in prison for killing his wife, April Jace.
The 53-year-old shot his wife in May of 2014 and was convicted of second-degree murder on Friday in Los Angeles. Prosecutors wanted to originally charge Jace with first-degree murder, with full intentions of killing her. His attorney then argued back saying that he acted in a heat of passion.
Their 10-year-old son told jurors that he heard his father say, “If you like running, then run to heaven,” before shooting the 2nd gunshot.
Jace apologized to the victim’s family, but it is not enough to bring April back. The victim’s mother, Kay Henry, stormed out of the courtroom in disgust.
