On Tuesday, it has been reported that an Islamic state group ISIS released a video of a Jordanian pilot being burned alive in a cage. This execution is one of the most brutal forms of death used by jihadists so far on a foreign hostage.
The 22-minute lengthy footage of the execution of 22-year old pilot Moaz al-Kasasbeh death had been released via the internet by the Islamic group. Using multiple angles to display the chilling execution the group wanted to show every detail of Kasasbeh’ death and the moments before his execution.
Kasasbeh was captured in December when his plane crashed on ISIS-held territory. Kasasbeh’s plane was one of the first lost aircraft since a US-led coalition strike against ISIS last year. The amount of hostage executions are rising, ISIS planned to kill the second Japanese prisoner, Kenji Goto, and Kassasbeh by sunset on January 29 unless Amman handed over Rishawi.
Jordanian citizens have been protesting and showing their support for Kasabeth’s family. Jordanian, Japanese, and United States government want the senseless killings of their citizens to end. A Jordanian embassy spokesperson has released that King Abdullah of Jordan is set to meet with President Obama on Tuesday to speak about the execution video.
Should the video prove authentic, “it’s just one more indication of the viciousness and barbarity of this organization. And it, I think, will redouble the vigilance and determination on the part of a global coalition to make sure that they are degraded and ultimately defeated,” Said Obama.
