Yesterday, many residents lost their home after a devastating gas explosion occurred in the East Village on 2nd Avenue. Three buildings collapsed leaving 22 people injured.
Celebrities and New York City residents are mourning their loss, including Sopranos actress Drea de Matteo. She had an apartment at 123 Second Avenue.
DeMatteo lived in the building with designer Charlotte Ronsons, creative director Chrissie Miller, designer Hilary Koyfman and producer Sophia Rossi. They shared images of the East Village buildings and sent their condolences via social media.
‘NYC’s finest trying to put out the flames to mine n many others apartments. Speechless. Praying for those that are hurt.’
In another photo, she added: ‘A hole where my NYC home of the last 22 years once stood…RIP 123 2nd Avenue.’
DeMatteo, who previously lived in the building with Ronson, , also has a home in Los Angeles and a family home in Queens.
‘R.I.P. 123 Second Avenue. Beyond devastating. Sending love & light. #regram @dreadematteo I love you and am so sorry beyond words.’
Rossi shared the photo with the caption:
‘Such good memories living here with @chrissiemiller @hilarykoyfman @dreadematteo @cjronson. A hole where my NYC home of the last 22 years once stood…RIP 123 2nd Avenue.’
Thankfully, DeMatteo has a home in Los Angeles and in Queens. However, many other residents are not as lucky.
