While the rest of the world was rejoicing at Leonardo DiCaprio’s first Academy Award win, Stacey Dash did not approve of his climate change speech.
Most celebrities, (most notably Kate Winslet) were inspired or in tears at the informative speech. Stacey Dash decided to compare DiCaprio to a very notable animated character, Chicken Little. She tweeted, “Quit being Chicken Little — the sky is not falling,” nonetheless, she agreed he deserved the award, but has a tremendous problem with his speech.
She ranted, “Climate change is real. It is happening right now. It’s the most urgent threat facing our entire species, and we need to work collectively together and stop procrastinating. We need to support leaders around the world who do not speak for the big polluters or the big corporations, but who speak for all of humanity, for the indigenous people of the world, for the billions and billions of underprivileged people who will be most affected by this.”
She believed that DiCaprio made his victory speech into a “too much” ordeal, and he should have fact-checked, before he went onto public television.
But, alas, the Chicken Little comments continued, “He reminds me of Chicken Little, the bird who ran around the neighborhood and disturbed everyone ‘with her foolish alarm.”
Thank you Stacey Dash, always pleasant to hear your opinion.
