Two young elementary school students, ages 9 and 12 were arrested and charged with poisoning a teacher by putting rat killing chemicals in her water bottle.

The students, also known as suspects in the case, attended P.S. 315 in Brooklyn, NY. The kids were arrested after the parent of another classmate told the school that their child witnessed the students putting something in the teachers water bottle.

The teacher, whose name has not been released, took the water bottle to the principal’s office on Monday. She followed up with her doctor to check if she is okay, and is now at home recovering from the incident.

The boys did this as a prank, wanting to see what would happen to the teacher after intake of the drink. The 9-year-old boy is the one who brought about the rat poison. The outcome wasn’t proven by the teacher, in fact, the damages were done to the students.

The students, who names were not given due to them being minors, have been charged with criminal possession of a weapon, which is the rat poison, reckless endangerment and also attempted assault.  They will be treated as juveniles in this incident.
