Superbowl Sunday, Sports Event or Media Spectacle?

Coke, Pepsi, Budweiser, Victoria Secret are all important advertisements featured during the Superbowl, but do they have anything to do with football?

This is the 50th annual SuperBowl event, but mostly what’s going on is the more popular players like (Peyton Manning) are bombarded by media outlets about their feelings and their legacy, instead of the sport.

Not to mention, the celebrity packed halftime show, including, Bruno Mars, Beyonce, Coldplay, and Lady Gaga. Wait, who’s playing again? Oh right, it’s the Carolina Panthers versus the Denver Broncos.

The viewership of the Superbowl averages around 117 million people, and studies have proven that the 2016 Superbowl will have more viewers than last years,  114.4 million people that watched on their television screens.

So make sure to grab that Budweiser, and you’ll probably be too drunk to understand what’s going on by the third quarter.
