Last night The Hot Zone was live at MetLife Stadium for Hot 97’s Summer Jam. It’s kind of hard to focus on the show now when so much happened outside those gates, but hey that’s a whole different story we have for you right here.
More than 50,000 fans gathered to celebrate Hip Hop with two stages filled with live performances by Hip Hop’s elite. The entire nine-hour event was live streamed worldwide exclusively on TIDAL.
The show started at 2pm with Festival Stage. Acts such as Joey Bada$$, Charles Hamilton, and Dej Loaf showed off their skills on stage to open up the show.
While Dej Loaf and B.o.B. were in the crowd taking selfies and enjoying interacting with the crowd, Travis $cott took it to another level with a very energetic performance that can be felt throughout the parking lot and through your laptop screens.
Teyana Taylor also tried to steal the show by bringing a very 90’s vibe to the stage, and bringing the legendary group Total to perform “Can’t You See.”
Once the festival ended, it was time for the main show. Omarion kicked off the show with a 15 minute set performing some of his hits including “Post To Be,” and also enjoyed showing off his dance moves for the crowd too.
The first surprise guest came from Ty Dolla $ign who brought out Dej Loaf and Wiz Khalifa. Some of the biggest surprises of the night came from 50 Cent (Chris Brown), and Future (Meek Mill), who rocked the crowd with some of his biggest hits including the popular “Commas.”
Trey Songz slowed things down with a sexy performance of some of his hits, including “Slow Motion,” as his dancers put the crowd into a more seductive mood as his dancers caressed all over him during the track. He even debuted some new music.
Chris Brown’s dance moves had the stadium on its feet, as the superstar brought out 50 Cent w/ G-Unit and French Montana to join him for his set.
Fabolous brought out an array of Hip Hop elite to accompany him including: Ma$e, The Lox, Lil Kim, Method Man, Fat Joe, Remy Ma, Red Man, Raekwon, Busta Rhymes, and French Montana. Kendrick Lamar’s performance left concert goers wanting more, as the “King Kunta” musician lit up the stage performing switched things up by performing hits from both his albums Good Kid M.A.A.D. City and To Pimp A Butterfly while bringing his TDE partners on stage too!
As Big Sean performed his hit song, “IDFWU,” the entire audience was rapping along to every word. Towards the end of the night, Meek Mill kept the energy up, bringing out some special guests including Future and girlfriend Nicki Minaj, whom he shared a tender moment with, before leaving the stage for New Jersey native Fetty Wap to close out the show on his birthday!
Other highlights include a tribute to the late artist, Chinx, by French Montana, and special appearances by Sza, Ab-Soul, ScHoolboy Q, E-40, Chedda Da Great and Welvin throughout the night.
