Actor and comedian Tracy Morgan is in intensive care after being involved in a serious car crash early Saturday morning. The accident took place on the New Jersey Turnpike, north of Trenton, NJ.
While traveling back from a tour date in Dover, DE, Morgan was being chauffeured in a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van; the van was in an accident with six other vehicles. Sargent Gregory Williams, from the New Jersey State Police, gave a statement to CNN about the accident:
“A tractor trailer struck the vehicle in Mercer County. NJSP says the driver of the tractor-trailer failed to observe slow-moving traffic ahead,” said Williams. “At last minute, he swerved to try and avoid the Mercedes limo but struck it from behind, forcing the limo to rotate and overturn.”
The accident involved the limo bus, holding the former “Saturday Night Live” cast member, two tractor trailers, two cars and an SUV. Morgan, 45, along with seven others, were included in the accident; one other person was pronounced dead. CNN’s report identified the name of the person as James McNair, of Peekskill, NY. McNair was one of the passengers in Morgan’s vehicle.
Morgan was airlifted to Robert Wood Johnson Medical Center in New Brunswick. A spokesman from the medical center stated that there are a total of four people being treated there. Three of them are in critical condition , the other person is in fair condition.
Everyone is in great hope for his health and recovery. We wish him and his family all of the best.
