TRIGGER WARNING: N-Word Used to Describe Wig Cap

Via Twitter

Wal-Mart has apologized for the use of the n-word by one of its third-party vendors on the international corporation’s website.

A wig cap, used to separate a persons’s hair/head from a wig, was described as “n$&&er brown” in the product description. This was only noted by Wal Mart when a Twitter user Tweeted at them with a screen-cap and celebrities like Roxanne Gay called the description out as unacceptable.

Wal-Mart has since removed the description as well as the ability to purchase the product and issued an official apology.

The company’s statement about product descriptions reads: “While we aim to provide accurate product information, it is provided by manufacturers, suppliers and others, and has not been verified by us.”

this story makes it clear clear that that policy should definitely be changed.
