An American healthcare worker infected with Ebola in Sierra Leone landed in the United States Friday for treatment at a specialist unit in Maryland. The unidentified patient is the 11th Ebola case treated in the U.S. since August.
The latest patient was in Sierra Leone working for health care. The person was flown back from West Africa in isolation and was taken to the National Institutes Of Health hospital in Maryland. The Institute stated: “The unit staff is trained in strict infection control practices optimized to prevent spread of potentially transmissible agents such as Ebola. NIH is taking every precaution to ensure the safety of our patients, NIH staff, and the public.”
It is not known how the patient got the disease but NIH is doing everything it can to prevent an outbreak.
