The Federal Bureau Of Investigation is offering a reward to one of the world’s most prolific and brilliant cyber criminals.
Evgeniy Bogachev is wanted by the United States government for hacking into private documents of the United States government. The U.S is offering a $3 million dollar bounty on Bogachev’s head. This is the first time that the State Department is offering money in exchange for a wanted criminal under the new State Department program.
It is too early to determine if this type of bounty will actually work out. Federal officials say they intend to use the strategy in additional cyber cases involving international hackers whose whereabouts are either unknown to the U.S. government or who are holed up in nations that have little or no diplomatic relations with the United States.
The agency says he’s believed to be in Russia and may travel by boat to locations along the Black Sea.
