The U.S. gymnastics team won the overall team gold medal today in the 2016 Olympics. That marks the second straight Olympic games that the U.S. team has won the gold medal.

The team was led by an almost perfect performance by sensation Simone Biles and a solid showing by veteran Gabby Douglas. The team, which is filled with talent and was predicted to win the gold, led the competition from start to finish winning by a total of 8 points. That is considered a trouncing in a sport where first and second place are usually separated by only a few tenths of a point.

The final 5 celebrated together to cheers from the crowds in Rio. The final 5 competitors were: Gabby Douglas, Aly Raisman, Simone Biles, Madison Kocian and Laurie Hernandez. Now we await the individual event competitions where U.S. gymnasts are favored to bring home more golds and possibly set records before these games are complete.
