Carey Gabay, one of New York Governor’s Andrew Cuomo’s lawyers, is one of the men seriously wounded in yet another gun shooting in the United States. He remains in critical condition.
The shooting took place at approximately 3:45am in Flatbush on the morning of the West Indian Day Parade. The event, held in Brooklyn, celebrates Caribbean culture and includes music, dancers and food from the nations.
According to reports, Gabay was walking with his brother past people having an argument when the shooting happened.
Governor Cuomo has since released a statement, where he has described the shooting as ‘tragic’ and that it is ‘the latest heartbreaking reminder that the crime of gun violence must stop’
He continues, ‘Carey is a friend to all who have the pleasure of meeting him… I ask that New Yorkers join us by keeping him, his wife Trenelle and his family in their prayers at this time.’
Two other men were also injured. One man, a 39-year-old, was also shot soon after and is expected to survive. A 24-year-old man was fatally stabbed in a fight.
There is no information as to a suspect yet, but police are continuing their search.
