Are you guys ready for 50,000 pounds of explosives to be launched aside of the BMW (Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Williamsburg) bridges?
With only a handful of legal firework shows permitted in New York City, The Hot Zone is here to give you the scoop on the locations where you can watch them. Usually, everyone looks forward to the Macy’s Fireworks show on the Hudson River, right above the cruise ships and between the New Jersey and New York City skyline, but not this year. Mayor De Blasio is the one to thank for this, as he did both Brooklyn and Queens residents the favor of viewing the fireworks from their borough.
This year, you can view the Macy’s Fireworks show from just about anywhere on the East Side of Manhattan and also downtown Brooklyn. Aside of Macy’s, there are a number of locations and landmarks throughout the city that will also put on a fireworks celebration for this Independence Day. Here are a few places that you can view these events:
Macy’s Fireworks Show: This phenomenal event will take place over the East River in New York City. You can view the fireworks from various locations at the pier or even from the Brooklyn Promenade located in Brooklyn Heights. Great views of the Manhattan and Brooklyn skyline. Be ready for this, the show begins at 9 p.m.
Brooklyn: Coney Island Cyclones will be celebrating this holiday with a fireworks show as well. This will be Coney Island’s Fireworks spectacular for the evening. You can view the sparks from the stand at MCU park for $10 or you can find a spot on the beach, which will be way more romantic for couples.
Queens: The Mets will be playing against the Texas Rangers at Citi Field this 4th of July. They will have a post-game fireworks show for the viewers also. You can watch the fireworks from the stands; promenade outfield tickets start as little as $18. The first pitch is at 7:10 p.m.
Staten Island: Residents of Staten Island don’t even have to leave their borough to view a good show. SI Yankees CEO Steve Violetta says that the show, taking place at Richmond County Bank Ballpark, will be the most accessible explosions for the people of the forgotten borough. Tickets for the game against the Hudson Valley Renegades start at a mere $10. The first pitch will be at 7 p.m. sharp.
Empire State Building: Don’t forget to watch out for the Empire State Building’s light show this evening. They will be using the famous colors of our nation’s flag to light up the Manhattan sky, aside of the Fireworks from Macy’s. Let’s see who will take the cake this year between the two.
To all residents outside of the New York City area, we did not forget about you guys. Check out the areas where you will still get a spectacular view of the fireworks show(s) in your area:
