Tonight Show host, Jimmy Fallon, had to cancel the taping of his Friday episode due to a severe hand injury that required hospitalization. The former Saturday Night Live star is undergoing minor surgery in New York City on Friday to treat the injury.
The official Fallon Tonight Twitter account posted on Friday stating, Hey guys – unfortunately tonight’s taping has been cancelled due to Jimmy injuring his hand. He’s totally fine but we’ll be airing a repeat.”
Fallon injured his hand in his Manhattan apartment in the morning prior to the set taping of the show.
The Tonight Show will go on a previously scheduled two-week hiatus starting on Monday.
Unfortunately this is not the first time the 40-year-old host has injured his hand. He nearly chopped off a finger in June 2013 while cooking.
“I was cutting tomatoes, I was making salsa. I don’t know why, I should just buy salsa, it’s easily available,” the father of two joked in a segment from when he hosted Late Night.
It has not been revealed how Jimmy injured his hand this time, but apparently June isn’t the luckiest time for Jimmy to be around sharp objects.
