Celebrity gossip network, E!, announced on Thursday that Melissa Rivers, daughter of late comedian Joan Rivers, will join the cast of style-nitpicking show, Fashion Police. Her mother was the show’s main antagonist before she died last year. Rivers will make her debut on August 31. She is already an executive producer on the show.
Rivers will appear alongside Fashion Police veterans, Giuliana Rancic and Brad Goreski. E! also announced a new development to the show – these three regulars will appear with two, different guest stars in every episode. They’re looking at comedians, stylists, and the like to fill these parts.
It is likely this is due to the departures of Kelly Osbourne and Kathy Griffin (Joan Rivers’ original replacement). Earlier this year, both cast members quit. Presumably, this was in wake of the show’s treatment of young performer Zendaya after she wore dreadlocks to the Oscars. The show has been on hiatus since it lost Osbourne and Griffin.
We wish Rivers the best of luck and look forward to the new Fashion Police.
