Actress Sarah Paulson, from the hit show American Horror Story, revealed the character she will be playing on the new season, Freak Show. She was very excited to make the announcement. In an interview with E! news, Paulson said that her reaction to reading the first script were just two words: “Holy s**t!”
She will be playing the two-headed Bette and Dot for Season 4. Paulson described the 4th season as a cross between the previous two AHS seasons, Coven and Asylum. “There’s going to be a little bit of a richer and potentially darker tone the way Asylum had, but with the humor infused from Coven.”
Co-creator Ryan Murphy also revealed more details on what he and the writers have in store for the new season:
“It was always a concept that Jessica and I talked about really early on. It was always her favorite one, which I thought was funny. I’ve had many different versions that I’ve run by her. I just love it. It feels really right. I thought it was going to be light but it’s turning out to be quite terrifyingly dark, which it feels much more like the Asylum season. But look, if you have a character named the ‘Clown Killer’, it’s going to be dark. The most terrifying clown ever.”
American Horror Story: Freak Show is set to begin filming in July and will premier this fall. It takes place in Jupiter, Florida during the 1950s; one of the last few freak shows left in the U.S.
