Phillip Ivey Jr., known as one of the best poker players in the world, is being sued by one casino in Atlantic City for cheating them out of $9.6 million in Baccarat.
Borgata Hotel Casino and Spa has filed a lawsuit against the 9-time poker champion. The lawsuit states that Ivey teamed up with an associate who helped with the defect in the card handling process.
The lawsuit claims the cards, were defective in that the pattern on the back of them was not uniform. The lawsuit also states that Ivey wanted the cards shuffled by an automatic shuffling machine, which would not affect the way the cards are positioned.
The cards that are manufactured by Gemaco Inc., had pattern flaws that were followed by Ivey. The cards would tell him what card was being handled before it was being dealt. This scheme has given him the upper hand on four different occasions between April and October 2012; he won every game.
Ivey doesn’t have much to say in regards to his alleged misconduct.
