Fashion Designer Marissa Webb is the new Creative Director for Banana Republic. Everyone is reacting positive to Webb’s new title and collaboration with the company. Banana Republic, one of the apparel brands of Gap Inc., mentioned the good news on their Twitter page, “Thrilled to announce Marissa Webb will be joining Banana Republic as Creative Director & Head of Design!”

The designer had launched her own label in 2011. She also worked for other big named brands such as Club Monaco, Polo and has a 10-year track record working for J. Crew where she had many design roles. The position for Creative Director at Banana Republic was recently held by Simon Kneen from 2009 to December 2013.

Gap Inc. owns a total of 6 recognized apparel brands: The Gap, Banana Republic, Old Navy, Piperlime, Athleta and Intermix.  When you think of Banana Republic, business causal clothing always comes to mind. You can wear their garments to work, to after work events, on a beautiful Saturday or Sunday afternoon and sometimes during the Friday nightlife scene. Webb’s designs channel the same sense of style. I can see her designs fitting in perfectly with the brand.

Are you guys excited yet? Her designs for the brand is set to make its debut in the summer of 2015. I can speak for most when I say I can’t wait to see what she brings to the table and Banana Republic’s new look for next year.
