Barbara Walters has set a date to say goodbye to “The View”. Last year, Walters announced her plan to retire, but knowing she has actually confirmed a date makes it even more “real”.
Walters will leave the show on May 16th, but she will be present behind the scenes as an executive producer. According to ABC, on May 16th “The View” will run a two-hour special on her career and it’s guaranteed that she will make special appearances as a news warrant. During an interview with Variety, Disney chairman-CEO Bob Iger, addressed questions regarding Walters’ retirement. He stated “She’s a dear friend and colleague as well as someone I deeply admire, and it’s impossible to fully convey her impact and influence on television. She broke barriers, defied convention, made history and set the standard for journalistic excellence for more than 50 years. It’s hard to imagine television without her.” I believe I speak for everyone when I say, watching “The View” will not be the same without Walters.
