On Monday, Fox announced that the network is ordering the Batman prequel series titled “Gotham.” It will delve into the early career of the future Batman police commissioner, James Gordon, which is played by Ben McKenzie. The show will include untold tales of DC Comics villains and introduce a new character, Fish Mooney, played by Jada Pinkett Smith. Sons Of Anarchy star, Donal Logue, is Detective Harvey Bullock in the series looking to reveal a new chapter in the Batman saga. The series will follow McKenzie’s character rise to prominence in Gotham City before Batman arrives.
Popular characters from the DC Comics universe, who will be a part of the show, include a young Bruce Wayne/Batman (David Mazouz), Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor), Riddler (Cory Michael Smith) and Catwoman (Camren Bicondova). The pilot of the series was directed and executive produced by Danny Cannon. He is mostly known for his work on CSI.
The pilot for this Warner Bros. Television project was written by Bruno Heller and John Stephens serves as another executive producer of the show. An air date hasn’t been announced. However, a Warner Bros. spokesman stated that “Gotham” is planned to air sometime during the the 2014-15 season.
