Ever since the rape allegations, Bill Cosby’s fan based has declined. From getting booed at his comedy shows to having the Cosby Show reruns removed from several TV stations.

Needless to say he is not on some people’s “favorite person” list. However, actor Eddie Murphy respects the legendary comedian, regardless of the allegations, and showed it in the best way. Saturday Night Live alum Norm Macdonald tweeted that Eddie Murphy refused to revive his Bill Cosby impression for SNL’s 40th Anniversary special. “He knew the laughs would bring the house down. Eddie Murphy knows what will work on SNL better than anyone,” he wrote. “Eddie Murphy, I realize, is not like the rest of us. Eddie does not need the laughs. He will not kick a man when he is down.”

Cosby applauded Murphy’s refusal to impersonate him. “I am very appreciative of Eddie and I applaud his actions.”

Kenan Thompson ended up doing the impersonation instead.
