Disgraced NBC anchor Brian Williams will not be hosting the inaugural Lincoln Awards.
Williams, who was brought down when it was revealed he lied about his experience in a war zone, has pulled out of hosting an awards show for military veterans and families. First Lady Michelle Obama has stepped in and agreed to film an introduction for the show, which will honor people and groups that help veteran and military families.
Williams, who has been suspended from the network since February, said he didn’t want to be a “distraction.”
The Lincoln Awards, which was filmed in January, will broadcast on Friday on PBS. It features a concert with Nick Jonas, Gavin McGraw and Jerry Lewis.
