On Friday, in court, Chris Brown admitted to violating a part of his probation that was granted to him after abusing Rihanna in 2009. He was given a year in jail for it, but the judge was willing to count time served (234 days) so that he only has 131 more days left.
The judge also extended the singer’s probation until next January. After admitting to assault in 2009 and being charged, Brown was given five years’ probation, 180 hours of community service and was forced to take a year-long domestic violence course.
The 131 days may be lessened even further depending on decisions made by the Sheriff’s Office. Because of good behavior, overcrowding and other factors, Brown may get out early.
He was arrested on March 14th after getting kicked out the treatment facility in Malibu where he was living. The violation that gave him his extra sentence, though, was for punching a man in the face during an altercation in Washington D.C.
The list of his punishments doesn’t simply include jail time. Brown must give random drug tests three times a week, get psychiatric counseling two times a week as well as attend an outpatient therapy program. He must also complete whatever is left of the 1,000 hours of community service he was given for charges (that were dropped) involving a car accident last August.
It seems like Chris Brown has a lot of issues to work on one step at a time. Do you agree that it’s time for this 25-year-old to get his act together?
