College coaches are finding it harder to fit in with their players and lessen the generation gap between them. So in an effort to get the team motivated this season, Nebraska head basketball coach Tim Miles made a bet with forward Terran Petteway that if the team make it to the Sweet 16 round of the NCAA tournament, then he will get star tattoos on his shoulders like Petteway already has on his.
I don’t know if this will actually have a significant impact on the success of their season, but there’s nothing wrong with having a little fun off the court.
Miles is not the first college basketball coach to propose a tattoo bet as Louisville coach Rick Pitino did the same thing in 2013, except he raised the stakes to winning the national championship. It worked for Pitino as Louisville ended up winning it all, and Pitino delivered on getting the tattoo, so Miles certainly has some big shoes to fill.
