I’m always excited to hear that unique music artists have collaborated on a song. Today, the social media music world is buzzing about a new song called “Computerized”, which was leaked on the internet. It is performed by legendary rapper Jay Z and the hot electronic funk duo Daft Punk.
It is alleged the track was produced by rap icon Kanye West, however, Pitchfork quickly denied the rumor. The question on everyone’s mind is when was the song originally recorded and why wasn’t it released sooner? It is not featured on JayZ’s past or upcoming album. Maybe the success of Pharrell’s hit collaboration with Daft Punk on “Get lucky” had something to do with it.
According to the lyrics of the song “Computerized”, it is assumed that the original song was recorded and produced by Daft Punk around 2010 since it was used on the soundtrack for the 2010 Disney film “Tron: Legacy”. Another sign that “Computerized” was recorded years ago, is within Jay Z’s lyrical reference to the Blackberry “Start macking on my BlackBerry. She got jealous I was tapping on my BlackBerry”. Considering he signed a deal with Samsung last year, it’s believed he would not promote Blackberry on any circumstances.
Regardless of the initial release date, “Computerized” is a cool song consisting of robotic voices, electronic beat, and lyrics with a lot of meaning behind them. In the rap Jay Z talks about his disgust with the role of today’s technology, “broken heart on the email, an iTouch but I can’t feel. Somebody tell me what’s real. I don’t know how I feel”.
