Straight Outta Compton has been a huge hit in movie theaters recently. However, the movie is missing some crucial details, according to Dee Barnes. Barnes is a writer that shed some light on Dr. Dre’s dark past. In 1991, Barnes was a host for the Fox show, Pump It Up, and Dre reportedly attacked her because of a aired segment from the show in 1990, that involved rapper Ice Cube insulting his former colleagues of N.W.A. Barnes claims Dre attempted to toss her down a flight of stairs, bashed her head into a wall, kicked her, and stomped on her fingers, at the Po Na Na Souk nightclub.
Dr. Dre pleaded no contest to assault charges, an Barnes’s civil suit against Dre was settled out of court. After that, it seems the whole situation was swept under the rug. But it gets even worse for Dre, as Barnes claims he also attacked other women before herself was even attacked. Barnes said that Eazy E’s protege, Tairrie B, was assaulted by Dre at a Grammy’s party in 1990.
Tairrie B was a Caucasian female hardcore rapper, and female rappers at that time, were another crucial part of that era, that the movie didn’t show, according to Barnes. Barnes was clearly disappointed when watching the movie, and when the movie skipped many important occurrences that involved females, Barnes asked herself, “Uhhh, what happened?” Maybe if a sequel is made to the movie, it will reveal the hardships Barnes went through, but for now, it seems Dr. Dre has some explaining to do.
