This may be one of the saddest but sweetest stories of the day. On Sunday, singer/songwriter Ed Sheeran made a 15-year-old girl’s dying wish come true. Through the Twitter campaign people started with the hash tag, #SongForTri, Sheeran was asked to sing to a young girl, Triona Priestly, with cystic fibrosis.
Sheeran called the Dublin teenager the same night that she died, talked to her over the phone and sang her favorite song, “Little Bird.”
“Triona slipped into a sleep as Ed was singing to her and passed away shortly afterwards,” Priestley’s brother Colm told the Irish Independent. “So Ed Sheeran sang her to sleep.”
Ed Sheeran is no stranger to helping those in need. He has played at numerous charity events, and is now selling his wardrobe on Ebay in order to give the proceeds to East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices.
When he found out the news of Triona passing away he tweeted a simple, “Rest in peace Triona, so heartbreaking x.”
