It has been a heartbreaking past few days for Mick Jagger and more as news that his girlfriend and renowned fashion designer, L’Wren Scott committed suicide. She was found dead in her NYC apartment from hanging herself.
The Rolling Stones have cancelled their shows in Australia and New Zealand in this trying time. All the band members have given their support to their front man after he released a statement on his Facebook page.
“I am still struggling to understand how my lover and best friend could end her life in this tragic way,” Jagger wrote. “She had great presence and her talent was much admired, not least by me. I have been touched by the tributes that people have paid to her, and also the personal messages of support that I have received. I will never forget her, Mick.”
It has now been revealed that she was planning to announce the closing of her fashion line on Wednesday. She was struggling to keep it afloat despite the fact that numerous A-list celebrities had her on speed-dial. Scott had been stressed about how to keep her business going and making deadlines on time.
“Two years ago, our friendship was tested when, after hearing her troubles, I told her she should give herself a time limit to resolve matters or get out. Putting her health in jeopardy because of stress was not worth it, I told her,” Scott’s long-time friend Cathy Horyn said.
Horyn does not say whether or not her tragic suicide was caused by the stress of closing her company, but it probably did not help her state of mind.
