Former “The Price is Right” host Bob Barker was hospitalized after a fall outside his Hollywood Hills home Tuesday morning.
Around 10:30 a.m., during Barker’s daily walk around his neighborhood, he tripped on the sidewalk, fell, and hit his head. Luckily, officers witnessed the fall; they were able to provide first aid on scene within minutes until paramedics arrived, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
A 19-time daytime Emmy Award winner and host of “The Price is Right” for 35 years, Barker had a colorful career before retiring in 2007. He is also well-known as an animal-rights activist, and made headlines earlier this year when he publicly expressed his outrage with Dr. Walter Palmer, the man responsible for the death of Cecil the Lion.
“Well if by publicizing his address they can make him miserable, I say publicize that address,” Barker defended Mia Farrow, who received backlash after tweeting Dr. Palmer’s personal contact information. “Because this man deserves to be made miserable for years to come.”
He didn’t stop there, declaring: “I would love to see them extradite Dr. Walter Palmer, spend a little time in an African jail. That would just be a thing of beauty and a joy forever.”
Barker, 91, suffered a 1½ laceration on the right side of his forehead and hurt his knee. He is currently at home recuperating after receiving treatment at Cedars-Sinai Hospital.
