Are you ready to feel super old and nostalgic? Well yesterday, May 6, 2014, marks the tenth anniversary of the Friends series finale. That’s right; an entire decade has passed since fifty million viewers tuned in to watch one of TV’s most successful shows come to an end of its ten season run.
Not that anyone needs a synopsis of the series, since everyone has heard of the show Friends, but I will give you a little something that should ring a bell. The show was about six best friends living in New York City. Who could forget classic moments like Chandler finding out what was in Monica’s closet? Or how about when the guys discovered free porn on their television and refused to turn it off for days, in fear that it would never come back?
The series starred Courtney Cox as Monica Geller, Jennifer Aniston as Rachel Green, Lisa Kudrow as Phoebe Buffay, Matt LeBlanc as Joey Tribbiani, Matthew Perry as Chandler Bing, and David Schwimmer as Ross Geller.
Every Friends fan around the world can agree on this one thing — the finale was heart-wrenching. Monica and Chandler prepared to move to their new home outside the city with their newly adopted twin babies. Rachel took her dream job in Paris, and as she was boarding the plane Ross surprised her at the airport in one final attempt to win back the love of his life. She still chose to go to Paris, and as he got home and listened to his messages there was an unfinished one from Rachel. In good old Ross fashion, he stood there freaking out about whether or not she had boarded the plane. That was everyone’s question; sure enough it was quickly answered when everyone saw Rachel standing at his doorway.
In August of 2012, Matt LeBlanc gave an interview to Glamour magazine. He opened up about the last episode, “Because of the sentimental value, that was a rough week. That was really tough knowing that it was coming to an end, the greatest gig ever. That was really rough.”
A lot has happened in the personal lives of the famed actors in the last decade. David Schwimmer got married while his three costars Matt LeBlanc, Courtney Cox, and Jennifer Aniston all got divorces. Lisa Kudrow picked up two Emmy nominations.
So to celebrate this day in TV history here is a clip of bloopers of the cast while filming.
