Thank heaven for little girls, sure, but don’t thank it for canceled shows. It was recently announced that Gigi, the Broadway musical adaptation of the Best Picture-winning film, will end its run on June 21. The production starred Vanessa Hudgens, of High School Musical fame, in the titular role. Apparently, the show didn’t perform well at the box office and didn’t receive stellar reviews from critics. It earned just one Tony nomination this year. However, the cast did perform famous number, “The Night They Invented Champagne” at the awards show on Sunday, June 7. At the end of its run, Gigi will have completed about 100 performances.
We congratulate the cast and wish them good luck in their future endeavors. Before it closes, you catch it at the Neil Simon Theatre in New York City.
