E! News and Fashion Police Host Guiliana Rancic caused a controversy recently when she commented on Zendaya’s Red Carpet look at the Oscars saying that the singer/actress looked like she “smelled of patchouli” and “weed.” Zendaya took to her social media account saying “There is a fine line between what is funny and disrespectful..Someone said something about my hair at the Oscars that left me in awe. Not because I was relishing in rave outfit reviews, but because I was hit with ignorant slurs and pure disrespect.” Rancic’s Fashion Police co-host Kelly Osbourne also took to her social media account outraged about the comments and shortly after announced that she would be leaving the show.

Rancic is now opening up about the incident and the issues surrounding the show after the late Joan River’s death saying “”When Fashion Police came back on after Joan’s death, it was the exact same format that they had created for Joan, but it couldn’t succeed. She was so unique in the way she delivered comedy — the format was built around her.” She has not been in contact with Osbourne or previous Joan River’s replacement Kathy Griffin since the controversy, saying “I haven’t talked to [Kelly or Kathy Griffin] since the incident…There’s nothing good that can come of trying to speak for them, [or guess] what they meant by their comments.”

Osbourne recently posted a tweet on her social media account saying “Liars always get caught.” Which is allegedly about Rancic. But when it comes to backlash on social media, Rancic says “”I can’t let those few people chase me off of social media. I love engaging with viewers. I never want to lose that connection because of a few people who aren’t kind.”
