Potentially, this is the weirdest artist project ever to go down. Ever. And we’re including any high school production of Spring Awakening. Saturday Night Live alum Will Ferrell is apparently a huge fan of Lifetime movies – the ones where nothing goes right and something creepy always happens. He and fellow SNL alum Kristen Wiig have always wanted to make one, and now they are.
Things didn’t go so smoothly at first. The press first found out about the information for A Deadly Adoption in April, way before they were supposed to. Ferrell and Wiig were upset about it, so they decided to pull the project. Comedy fans (and Lifetime fans, too) felt just as broken about it as the creators. And then, on Tuesday, a miracle happened.
There was a billboard for the movie in Hollywood. It featured a pregnant woman, played by Jessica Lowndes, on a dock. The tagline is, “The birth of a plan gone wrong.” So Lifetime.
Wiig confirmed that this is not a hoax. The TV movie will air on Lifetime on Saturday, June 20. The billboard says it’s Sunday, June 20, but Wiig claims this is inaccurate. From the looks of it, this isn’t a parody movie. This is legitimate, Lifetime-worthy stuff.
Here at The Hot Zone, we think A Deadly Adoption is strange, but we’re more than excited to feast our eyes on it.
