Jill Duggar Dillard and her husband, Derick, are trading their Arkansas home for a brand new continent. The couple, who welcomed their first son, Israel, into the world in April, has not specified how long they will be out of the United States. The 19 Kids and Counting spouses took to their blog to announce the move on Friday.
The Dillards wrote that they’ve always felt that going on a mission was their path in life. They have “a deep love and care for all of the world,” and they are going to turn that love into service for another nation. While they haven’t said how long they will be gone, the Dillards did include that their trip will be “longer than the typical short-term mission trip.”
Derick Dillard has resigned from his position at Wal-Mart. He was an accountant. The pair will leave next month. They also haven’t specified where they’re traveling, but they did ask for “prayers as [their] family makes this transition.”
TLC still hasn’t decided whether or not 19 Kids and Counting will be canceled. Still, we now figure that if the Dillards are going to be out of the country, a possible spinoff won’t actually happen. Late last month, it was rumored that TLC wanted to do a spinoff focusing on the Dillards and the other newlywed, Duggar couple – Jessa and Ben Seewald.
We wish the Dillard family the best of luck in the coming month.
