John Lennon’s first wife Cynthia Lennon has passed away after battling with cancer for a short time. British musician and songwriter John Lennon was once named one of the greatest singers of all time and co- founded of the one most successful bands in history, the Beatles. Lennon and Cynthia met while they were both attending the Liverpool College of Art in the 1950’s. They would eventually divorce and Lennon would go on to marry Yoko Ono in the late 1960’s. Cynthia would go on to be married three more times and become a widow in 2013.
When once asked about Lennon in an interview after his murder in 1980, Cynthia said “He’s made his mistakes, on the front pages of newspapers, all over the world. But he bared his soul for everybody else to see.”
A representative for the family stated that her son Julian Lennon was at her bedside throughout her battle and that while the family is very thankful for everyone’s prayers, they ask for respect and privacy at this time. She is survived by her son Julian.
