In a recent interview with Q magazine, musician Kanye West admitted some information about his mother, Donda’s, tragic passing. Apparently, he considers himself accountable for her death. When the interviewer asked West what he has given up in his life for fame and success, his answer was simple: “My mom.”
Donda West was an English professor who died at the age of 58. She suffered complications from a surgery. In 2007, she passed away at a hospital in California. Reportedly, her health took a downward spiral after she underwent plastic surgery, and after her death, the doctor who performed the surgery faced quite a bit of controversy.
West believes if he had never moved to Los Angeles, his mother would be alive and well. He couldn’t go into much more detail because “it will bring [him] to tears.” Previously, West established a creative business, DONDA, in honor of his late mother.
Even though West has lost his mother, it hasn’t stopped him from starting a happy family of his own. The 38-year-old artist has been married to TV personality Kim Kardashian for over a year. Their daughter, North, is two years old, and they are expecting a baby boy. For now, check out this touching flashback video of West’s late mother.
