Kanye West is upset..again. He ranted about Jay Pharoah’s impersonation of him at the MTV VMAs. Although we all know it was just a joke, Kanye made it loud and clear on stage at the Made In America festival, that he did not approve.
He said: “I called Jay Pharoah right after the MTV awards, I said, I appreciate your show, but let me tell you about my story. Let me tell you about what I went through to get to that position. So we ain’t gonna have no black comedians going onstage spoofing the people that’s working hard, and helping the next man out. It’s fine and all funny and everything, but don’t distract from our vision. It’s not a joke what we do up here. This music that we do is not a joke. What we do culturally is not a joke. For me to be in a very publicized interracial relationship is not a joke. It’s something that should be treated with respect cause we’re all in this together. They try to make it seem like a self absorbed thing, but the bottom line is that I want to be able to create more, to create more that can help more people, I know everybody’s doing their job. But before we go to the next song, what I want people to realize is what we do we put our love, our heart, our pain, our story, our lives into it.”
This is hilarious to me. If the world can make jokes about music royalty, Jay Z and Beyonce, what would make Kanye believe that he and Kim are exempt? At least no one made fun of North West, unlike Blue Ivy’s situation with BET. Kanye walks around as though nothing bothers him and yet he always snaps at the smallest things. It’s not like Pharaoh mentioned Kim’s sex tape (like so many other comics tend to do), or how she had the quickest marriage and divorce in history with Kris Humphries. Sometimes we just have to tell ourselves “its not that serious!”
