Legendary rock group, Linkin Park, surprises fans with a hot new single called “Guilty All The Same” featuring hip hop icon Rakim. Can you say epic collaboration!
In anticipation of their upcoming untitled album, this song was released through Shazam. Mike Shinoda, of Linkin Park, explained why they believe this song was perfect for giving the fans a taste of what the album will represent.“The reason we went with this single first is that we think it’s a good look into the DNA of the record that we’re putting out this summer”. A few months ago I was making some demos and writing this stuff and it sounded like something that you could play on the radio. I listen to a lot of indie music and I was listening to the demos and thought, I don’t want to make any of that music. What is it that’s not out there right now that I’m all about, that I’m fired up about that is a void? It ended up being this new material.”
When asked about the idea of featuring Rakim on the song, Shinoda stated ” Rakim, he’s like one of my idols. If you get into the nitty-gritty of his rhyme pattern and the topic in this song, it’s bananas what he is doing. He’s on the some Steve Vai s*** vocally.”
“Guilty All The Same” is 6 minutes in length, fused with a lot of heavy guitar, drum-lines, and shredding which is exactly what we would expect from Linkin Park. About three minutes into the song, hip hop icon Rakim, blesses us with a verse which goes perfectly with the vibe and message of the song.
