Marc Anthony’s wallet will be feeling lighter for a while. A judge has ordered him to pay double the amount of child support ($26k) for his two sons, mothered by his ex-wife Dayanara Torrres.
Although $26,000 seems like a lot of money to us average folks, Marc might be looking at this as a blessing in disguise. Initially, Dayanara was seeking $123,426.
According to E online, Marc had previously been ordered to submit a detailed report on his income and expenses as part of the case. There was drama when it emerged that he somehow managed to ‘forget’ he owns a farm in upstate New York, when he submitted his accounts. Marc stated, “I completely forgot I had a farm” and explained that he hadn’t visited the property in about 9 years. The estimated property value is $700k.
Marc did not want to increase the child support payment due to the fear that his sons would become spoiled drug addicts! Seems like a stretch, but considering the crazy antics many children of celebrities commit in the media today, maybe he isn’t too far off.
Dayanara testified that Marc had been neglecting their kids, and only visited them 35 days in 2013. In addition to her child support requests, she estimated that she needs between $4k -$7k a month for a nanny and housekeeper. She alleged that he made $60 million in the past four years alone.
Marc denied the statements and said he looked after them for 71 days in 2012. When his finances were broken down in the court documents, Marc stated that over the last two years he has spent on average $305,000 a month.
