Michael Sam has been released by the Dallas Cowboys.
The first openly gay player in the NFL was released by the Dallas Cowboys yesterday. He signed with the Cowboys on September 3rd after being released by the St. Louis Rams. In a statement made on Twitter, he stated: “I want to thank the Jones family and the entire Cowboys organization for this opportunity, as well as my friends, family, teammates, and fans for their support. While this is disappointing, I will take the lessons I learned here in Dallas and continue to fight for an opportunity to prove that I can play every Sunday.”
When asked about Sam, Coach Jason Garrett stated that comes to work every day and practices hard.
Sam has yet to find a home in the NFL. Let’s hope he can find a team soon. He deserves to be starting in the NFL.
