Fans of ’90s music more than likely lost their minds when Destiny’s Child reunited at the Stellar Gospel Music Awards on Saturday (March 28).
Michelle Williams was scheduled to perform “Say Yes,” but no one knew that Beyonce and Kelly Rowland would be joining her onstage. Williams’ former group-mates also appeared in the music video for the song last year.
The 34-year-old posed the idea to them, thinking a live performance together made sense. Contrary to some rumors, the ladies are still very much on good terms.
“Last year they came on my song ‘Say Yes’ on my album Journey to Freedom. Then they agreed to do the video and I was like, ‘We need to just do it one time together because it’s one of their favorite songs.’ It’s so easy to just pick up the phone and say, ‘Ya’ll want to do it? Yes? Cool!'” she told ET.
“Friendship is the foundation of everything we do — no drama. People are looking for drama but we have none to give you. It’s literally friendship and sisterhood and respect,” Williams added.
The trio last performed together at the 2013 Super Bowl halftime show.
Catch their reunion on the Stellar Awards, airing next Sunday (April 5) on TV One.
