Disney recently announced that it would be filming a live action version of the classic fairy-tale Beauty and the Beast. The first cast members to be announced were Harry Potter star Emma Watson who will be playing the role of Belle and Dan Stevens who will be playing the role of the Beast. Now a new casting announcement has been made.
The Devil Wears Prada’s Stanley Tucci will be playing a grand piano named Candeza and Ewan McGregor will be playing the role of the candlestick Lumiere. Iconic British actor Ian McKellen announced that he will be playing the role of Cogsworth the clock via Twitter writing “Excited to make @DisneyPictures debut w/ director Bill Condon & cast including @EmWatson, @TheRealLukeEvans. Hoping all goes like clockwork!” Watson then tweeted back at the star with a photo of Cogsworth from the animated film and the caption “there couldn’t be a better person for Cogsworth. Welcome! X.”
Beauty and the Beast is a part of Disney’s new venture creating animation reboots. They also plan to release live action versions of The Jungle Book, Dumbo and Mulan. Beauty and the Beast is due to be released on March 17th 2017.
